The Epista Platform has its roots in the world of financial and mathematical modeling tools. The company was founded on the idea of automating advanced financial calculations that were too difficult for spreadsheets to handle. At the same time it had to be simple enough to model for business users, without the need for programming.

Patent pending engine

The core engine is a patent pending compact efficient math execution framework that is highly performant, yet very flexible and extendable. The architecture is pluggable, so that new calculation needs easily can be accommodated as customers demand it. The engine scales linearly and is stateless so that it is simple to scale across a number of servers.

Visual definition

On top of this efficient engine, Epista have built a visual modeling application that allows users to define their math and financial models in a fully visual environment. This unique environment completely eliminates the notion of textual ‘formulas’ as often seen in spreadsheets and analytics applications.

Collaborative use

The engine has been architected for use in collaborative environments. Many companies have data processed wholly or in part through spreadsheets, which are very useful for ad-hoc applications. But as soon as the use expands beyond a single user, companies run into difficulties consolidating multiple versions of the same spreadsheets leading to confusion and a considerable amount of business risk.  The Epista engine solves this by separating calculations from data and presentation, such that multiple users easily can use the same business logic and calculation on different data set while maintaining the ability to consolidate information for management use.
